3 Quick Self-Care Tips for Busy Moms

Mama, I know you are busy, trust me I know.

I also know that it’s so easy to put yourself last. You have little ones that require so much from you and it’s hard to find that “me time” that everyone says you need.

I’m sure you are tired, overwhelmed, and can’t imagine putting one more thing on your plate, especially something that isn’t “necessary”.

Maybe you don’t get a lot of support from your spouse, friends, or family. You literally don’t have someone who can swoop in and watch your kids so you can get a break.

So you push through.

Let me tell you, Mama, self-care doesn’t always mean getting in the car and leaving your kids with someone, or even being child free.  There are small things you can do throughout your day that can help fill your soul.

Find Small Snipits of Time

We all have little moments in the day that our children leave us alone.  So when you’re doing dishes, driving in the car, or showering, use those few minutes to think good things. Find a good mantra like “I am Enough“ or “I am a good parent and choose to take those moments to be kind to yourself.

Be Playful With Your Kids

I don’t know about you, but dancing and being playful really makes me happy.  So, when I’m feeling Funky, I turn on the tunes and have a dance party or run around outside with my kids.  Play is always a great mood lifter!

Exercise With Your Kids

Exercise.  Doesn’t everyone who talks about parenthood suggest that Mama’s find time to exercise? As a mom myself, I know just how hard that is.  The truth is that exercise is the most powerful mood booster out there. But seriously, not everyone has the time or the money for a gym membership.  Well, Mama it may be easier, and more fun than you think to exercise…if you involve your kids.

Buy a exercise DVD or find one on Netflix and have a family exercise party, or load up the stroller and go for a walk.  Own a bike?  Take the kids out for a bike ride.  Just get moving.  The kids will love it and you’ll get some exercise too.

Self-care doesn’t have to be time consuming. We just need to be intentional with the time that we have.

And remember, Mama, we can not be the best parent we want to be unless we are taken care of too. You can not give, what you don’t have to give.

So, be kind to yourself, be nurturing to yourself, and remember that you matter so very much…so make yourself a priority.
